Bruce and Jennifer's Wedding

If you haven't been here in a while, be sure to peruse the sidebar, I fixed some of the broken links in the side bar and added some cool info! Also, if you click on a bad link, have suggestions or what have you, let me know at sassandgroove-wedding@yahoo.com. Thanks.

For you out of towners (and even you locals) here are some things you can do.
While visiting Birmingham, you don’t have to just hang around the hotel watching HBO and eating room service. YOU CAN, but you don’t have to. I’ve found Birmingham to be a fun, friendly city. Good thing, too, since Bruce is from here, it looks like I’m here to stay.

These are just a few suggestions. You can also enjoy Oak Mountain State Park, where the wedding will be. There is lots to do, including swimming, paddle boating, hiking, bike trails, etc. etc. etc. I hope can come to celebrate with us, and that you enjoy yourself while you are here.

The Latest In
Medieval Fashion

You, as a cherished guest at our feasting and merriment, are encouraged to play along. The day will be jovial, lighthearted and informal. A simple tunic and a plain pair of pants will fit the bill. Or, if you’d rather, dress to the nines in silks and linens, or leather and boots. As far as authentic clothing, we’ve had luck with Museum Replicas, based in Atlanta. Bruce and I visited their showroom, and have ordered his clothes and the bridesmaids dresses there. You can visit them online or call 800-883-8838. Another fun website I found is The Pillaged Village. I haven’t ordered from them yet, but I am planning to get the groomsmen’s’ clothing there, and possibly some other fun items. Looking around online I have found a great many websites, ranging from expensive custom made to affordable ready made clothes:

Fashions In Time (This is where I ordered my dress.)
Silver Mane
Arcane Lore Design
Good Garb
Museum Replicas (this is where we are getting brides maids dresses and others outfits)
Merchant Adventures
The Pillaged Village (groomsmens custom tunics, bridesmaids shoes and other cool stuff!)

Have fun with it. Do some searching of your own, or fudge it with simple tunics, poet shirts or even a plain dress. Check around your area too, in costume shops, thrift stores or even a local renaissance fair. You are only limited by your imagination. And remember, you are sure to have a wonderful day, no matter the attire.

So I don’t update this much. Hey, I’m planning a wedding over here!
We found Swords!!! Yes, my groom and his men are wearing swords. We paid too much for Bruce’s. Oh, well. But then we found a shop right here in Birmingham that carries them for a lot less, so we decided to buy the groomsmen swords, too.
Mud Dogs Knife Shop
2519 Pinson Valley Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35217
(205) 841-7337
I kid you not, that is their name. But they were very friendly and helpful. Very down to earth people. If you are in town, and want a sword or knife, check them out, but call first, they aren’t always open, I haven’t figured out the strategy to their hours.

I also picked up a really cool dagger with Celtic designs. We’re going to use it to cut the cake, but really, its just cool.
